The Bronco Soldier has been inducted into a club of exclusivity; membership as a United States Army War Veteran. As Soldiers, and now War Veterans, hearing our country's National Anthem will, forever more, resonate differently in them than it ever will in their civilian peers who never wore the uniform and served our Nation during a time of war. She is a makeup-free, hair-in-a-bun, tight-muscled kid who is considered by our society as half girl, half woman. He is a high-and-tight wearing, tight-muscled kid who is considered by society as half boy, half man. They love their X-Box, their Facebook, their smart phones; they cherish their iPods and iPads; they listen to Rihanna, Lil Wayne, linkin Park, Korn, Taylor Swift, Akon, and Shakira. They manage virtual identities online as well as their real identities in their very real world; they are super-multi-tasking individuals, eager to know the "why" and "how" aspects of everything. They can, in a heartbeat, save a life.....or take one. The Bronco Soldiers undoubtedly do twice the work of their civilian peers, make about half their income, miss their little brothers and sisters, the family cat and dog, and family events, yet they can still find a reason to smile and laugh regardless of all the irony. The Soldiers of this great Brigade continue to inspire and awe me; I am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve and lead with the Soldiers of the Bronco Brigade; I will always have the utmost respect and admiration for each Bronco Soldier. None Better!
